Closed Captioning Options for Institutions using StageClip Producer

Closed Captioning can be included for your YouTube Premiere through one of two options. It is your responsibility to ensure your institution complies with all relevant regulations. 

Your Options:

2. Create an SRT file - You can download the full ceremony footage for captioning once you have generated it in Producer. This allows you to then have one complete .SRT file created, which can be uploaded to YouTube. Captioning must be done from one continuous SRT file - YouTube cannot accept multiple .SRT files for a single ceremony. If you need a captioning company, we recommend Rev.

YouTube automatic captions are generated by machine-learning algorithms, so the quality of the captions may vary.

If automatic captions are available, they will automatically be published on the video when broadcasted. We have found that the majority of ceremonies so far have been captioned but captions may not work every time. Processing time by YouTube depends on the complexity of the video's audio, but if you publish your ceremony at least 48 hours prior to the Premiere time, it should be enough time for the algorithms to work.

YouTube is constantly improving its speech recognition technology, but automatic captions might misrepresent the spoken content due to mispronunciations, accents, dialects, or background noise.

If your ceremony video doesn't generate automatic captions, it could be due to one or more of the following reasons:

• The captions aren't available yet due to processing complex audio in the video
• Automatic captions don't support the language in the video
• The video is too long
• The video has poor sound quality or YouTube doesn't recognize the speech
• There is a long period of silence at the beginning of the video
• There are multiple speakers whose speech overlaps
